Gloria Struck epitomizes that age is just a number. This feisty lady began riding motorcycles way back in 1941. Soon there after she became one of the early members of the Motor Maids women's motorcycle club, when she joined in 1946.
The Motor Maids were founded by Linda Dugeau and Dot Robinson in 1940, it’s the oldest motorcycle organization for women in North America. Gloria is the longest standing member still riding!
Her first solo motorcycle tour, in Canada in 1950, was the subject of a feature story in a 1952 issue of Harley-Davidson Enthusiast. Since then she has ridden all over the continental 48 states and over seas as well. She loves long rides! In Europe she covered 4000 miles in eight countries.
With trips like that, it is easy to realize that she has well over 650,000 miles to her credit. She has been everywhere.
Gloria was named to the Sturgis Hall of Fame in 2011 and to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2016.
With so many many miles driven, one would say, “This lady must have some amazing stories to tell.” Well, Gloria agrees and she put them all down on paper. 256 pages worth - a lifetime of stories.
Her book titled, “Gloria – A Lifetime Motorcyclist: 75 Years on Two Wheels and Still Riding” is filled with stories that reflect on the many adventures she has experienced on the road. Come down to the Springfield Motorcycle show for a special book signing and meet and greet on Saturday and get to know this special lady!
